About
Tomaz Lima - Homem de Bem has always been musically gifted. From a young age, he was singing, performing, and playing a variety of instruments. Throughout the course of his musical career, Tomaz Lima - Homem de Bem has won over the hearts of music lovers from all walks of life; performing at a variety of venues, making a host of public appearances, all the while recording new music.

The musical work of Tomaz Lima is made up of age-old, pentatonic-scale melodies from India and Tibet, enhanced by Brazilian harmonies and Afro-Cuban, Hindu and Brazilian rhythms.
It's the synthesis of baião, afoxé, maculelê, bossa nova, samba, marcha, merengue, columbia, guajira and rumba, combined with Indian rhythms such as dadra, with a 6/4 time signature, jahptal (5/4), and tental (2/4), like our samba.
As to the orchestration - what Gunther Schuller says characterises a music's nationality - the work of Tomaz Lima is international. To the two violins, one viola, one cello, one acoustic bass, guitar, mandolim, flute, oboe and harp, Tomaz Lima adds the Andean charango and the mridangam, a Indian percussion instrument made of clay.
Tomaz Lima embellishes this astonishing sound with additional percussion instruments, such as: the moringa, barrica, berimbau, caxixi, surdo, cuìca, banzá, afoxé, pandeiro, and Arabia timbals or "noukkayrat".
All the instruments are acoustic. The vocal sounds follow Western patterns, except for when TOMAZ LIMA makes harmonic sounds now used in avant garde music, following thousands of years of use in Tibetan monasteries.
The end product is music that is enchanting, emotional, authentic, and accessible to our ears.
